Today, July 15, World Youth Skills Day is celebrated around the world to highlight the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship!

According to the United Nations, the theme of the 2023 World Youth Skills Day is “Skilling teachers, trainers and youth for a transformative future.” This highlights the essential role that teachers, trainers, and other educators play in providing skills that enable youth to transition into the labor market and actively participate in their communities and societies.

In Pakistan, HOPE’87 is currently implementing two projects aimed at boosting economic development and improving employment conditions for Afghan and Pakistani youth by strengthening their competencies and skills.

The project “Changing perspectives of migration – Stimulating economic development and improving employment conditions for Afghan and Pakistani youth“, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria, Microsoft and McKinsey & Co., aims to train 650 youth in the Jnr. Full Stack Developer, Freelance Microfinance Loan Officer and Retail Sales Associate programmes to improve their socio-economic conditions and empower them.

The project “Combating the Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic in Pakistan“, funded by he Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, aims to increase the income of Afghan and Pakistani youth in response to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing specialized training in various areas such as digital skills, arts and crafts, marble mosaic design, 21st century skills training., construction and renovation, tailoring and embroidery, and biotechnology, and training them in team building, strategic time management, mental health, psychosocial support, sustainable livelihood approaches, business plan development and marketing strategies, budgeting, and financial planning.
