Visit at the "Cité Baraka - from a slum to decent housing" in Dakar

On 9 May 2024, Mr Ernst Woller, 1st President of the Vienna State Parliament, visited the project “Cité Baraka – from a slum to decent housing”  in Dakar. 

The President was overwhelmed by the great and voluntary work that CasaOrascom, a company owned by Mr Samih Sawiris, is doing in housing construction, as well as by the social projects of HOPE’87 (Vienna and Senegal) and the YOU Foundation – Education for Children in Need by UNESCO Special Ambassador Dr Ute Ohoven (Düsseldorf), which enable the residents to earn a regular income through income-generating training and practical skills.

President Woller was accompanied by the Austrian Ambassador in Dakar, H.E. Mrs Fahringer, as well as a high-ranking delegation and was given a tour of the site by the representative of HOPE’87 Senegal, Mr Boubacara Mané.
