This project was implemented by the local NGO HOPE’87-Burkina Faso in the Hauts-bassins region, province of Kénédougou, commune of Koloko in Burkina Faso and the Sikasso region, district of Sikasso, commune of Finkolo in Mali, and was generously funded by the organisation „Barmherzigkeit International”.

During its 12-month duration, the project contributed to poverty reduction in 300 households affected by the security crisis and climatic uncertainties. It improved the food security of 300 children aged 6 to 23 months from the groups most at risk of malnutrition in the two rural communities of Finkolo and Koloko.

In fact, the project consisted of strengthening the capacities of the main actors involved in the fight against malnutrition, among them community mediators, groups producing protein-enriched infant flour, cereal sellers, mothers of children aged 6 to 23 months and pregnant women. In total, 2,440 kg of infant flour were distributed to the beneficiaries.

In addition, the project has strongly supported a local initiative to process grain into fortified infant meal (Hérémakono Infant Meal Production Unit) through production facilities, purchase of inputs and training of members to maintain the sustainability of the project.
