The project was facilitated by the City of Vienna and was successful in providing a solution for the efficient storage and preservation of rice in the rural area of Munyika Hill in Rugombo Province.

To address the widespread problem of adequate rice storage, HOPE’87 built a community storage facility that provides an efficient solution for the storage and preservation of rice. This storage facility now not only enables smallholder farmers to store part of their production and sell it at the most favourable time, but also to better withstand food and nutritional shocks during periods of famine.

The project also provided training on agricultural techniques and practices such as harvest and post-harvest procedures for farmers, training for community savings and credit associations, and training on sustainable income-generating activities to contribute to the economic empowerment of beneficiaries.

HOPE’87 expresses its gratitude to the City of Vienna for funding this project!
