The RECOUVRER II project is a consolidation phase of RECOUVRER I, a 26-month consortium project implemented by seven Austrian humanitarian organizations (Caritas Austria, HOPE’87, Horizont3000, ICEP, Jugend eine Welt, Licht für die Welt, Austrian Red Cross) in collaboration with their partner organizations in Burkina Faso and Senegal and financed by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
The focus is on strengthening agricultural production, combating food insecurity, nutrition, fighting gender-based violence and creating added value in the context of climate change.
The HOPE’87-Senegal sub-project aims to increase the incomes of vulnerable households by improving agricultural productivity in the context of climate change, to contribute to agricultural production that is more closely linked to targeted demand, and to enable better access to financial services. The strategy is based on the integration of the climate change dimension into the formulation and programming of development policies, while taking into account other priorities such as human and animal health, the fight against poverty and malnutrition, the promotion of renewable energies and energy efficiency, as well as gender concepts and the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Ultimately, the project will significantly reduce food and nutrition insecurity, with improved knowledge of strategies for adapting to the effects of climate change, access to climate information, processing of agricultural products to create other added values, promotion and inclusion of women in decision-making bodies and increased incomes for producers.
