This project is implemented by HOPE’87 in cooperation with United Teams – the strategic alliance of the YOU Foundation (Germany) to improve food security and fight poverty among women in the communities of Mampatim and Médina Chérif in the Casamance in the south of Senegal.

The project supports the women of these communities in the introduction of new cereal varieties with a short cycle and high yields, it promotes winter gardening such as sweet potatoes as well as the planting of fruit trees and trains them in the production of protein-rich flour to prevent malnutrition among children aged 0 to 3 years.

Overall, the project strengthens the women’s agricultural production activities and leads to an increase in income and to a strengthening of economic and social self-determination.

These activities are combined with strengthening local non-governmental organisations and entrepreneurship training to ensure job creation in rural areas and significantly improve women’s incomes while addressing malnutrition.
