World Humanitarian Day is commemorated every year on 19th August to raise awareness of the plight of civilians around the world who have become caught up in conflicts as well as to honour all humanitarian workers who provide life-saving support and protection to people most in need.
Currently, over 130 million people throughout the world are in crisis, either through war or natural disasters and are in need of humanitarian aid.
In response to the worsening humanitarian situation worldwide, HOPE’87 has been implementing projects in the Republic of Moldova to support Ukrainian refugees and in Bangladesh, where more than 1 million Rohingya refugees live in overcrowded camps and rely heavily on humanitarian aid for food and essentials.
Not to forget Pakistan, where HOPE’87 has been providing education in emergencies to Afghan refugees or the Sahel region of Burkina Faso and Mali, where many people are in need of food assistance or are internally displaced due to ongoing political instability, the fight against acts of terrorism and the consequences of climate change, which are increasingly manifested in periods of drought.
Let’s continue to join forces and help each other in times of need to make the world a little better!
