In Bangladesh, HOPE’87 established four Early Child Care Development units in Dhaka and Chottogram Districts, admitting 100 pre-primary students aged 4 to 6 years and 300 children to primary school-level education (6 to 12 years). This project provided textbooks, conducted early childhood care classes, and arranged child-appropriate computer training for children. Furthermore, cooked food was distributed weekly to 400 children, the students and their siblings, educational materials were purchased and distributed, and school fee support for regular school attendance was provided to underprivileged students. The project also provided psycho-social care for children in need and organised extra-curricular activities.
