Educational and cultural campaign for promoting peace
The educational and cultural campaign for promoting peace, “KA BEN SINSIN” in the province of Kénédougou, Burkina Faso, and in the circle of Sikasso, Mali, was a regional educational project that aimed at strengthening the peace culture in and between the two countries. Based on traditional, as well as modern knowledge, the project focused on capacity building of young rural people (girls and boys) who were members of local associations, of political opinion leaders, traditional authorities on community level and finally, the entire population of the project area.
The project used traditional communication techniques for knowledge transfer and capacity building: theatres and public talking sessions are powerful means to transfer messages regarding important societal issues to a large audience. Music instruments, like the balafon and the Tchichacara were used in the performance and proved to be valuable means when it came to mobilizing people.
