Prevention and protection against Ebola Virus Disease in Senegal
Just as the first case of Ebola has been confirmed in Senegal on 29 August 2014, HOPE'87 starts activities to strengthen prevention and protection against the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease in the Casamance Region in the south of Senegal
HOPE'87-Bangladesh commemorated the International Youth Day on August 12th by supporting two small scale income generating projects for young people. Ali Majid, a former illiterate rickshaw puller who grabbed the opportunity to get training in computer technology, was awarded 50.000,- Bangladeshi Taka to open his own computer shop in order to gain an income and to support his family.
With the support of Ralf Zacherl through the UNESCO Foundation – Education for Children in Need, HOPE’87 and the local population of Taonsgho, a village in the rural district of Tanghin-Dassouri, joined hands and built a school with three classrooms, equipped with a canteen in order to secure basic education as well as school feeding for the youngest. Diarrhoea is spreading at the moment in Chittagong Hills Tract in the mountainous far East of the country, especially in Ruma, Roanchori and Thanchi areas due to unsafe drinking water. The death toll related to diarrhoea and subsequent dehydration especially among small children, the elderly and weak has risen dramatically.
