Re-collecting the sad memories of the disaster in Bangladesh - Photography competition and exhibition in Dhaka to raise awareness and preparedness

Cyclone SIDR hit Bangladesh on 15th November 2007 and caused severe damage in the coastal region with a death toll of approximately 8,000 people. In this view HOPE’87 Bangladesh wants to re-collect the sad memories of the disaster in order to raise awareness and preparedness with domestic resources.



HOPE’87 Bangladesh & Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (a Govt. National Art Academy) in co-operation with Bangladesh Photo Journalist Association will arrange a photography competition and exhibition in Dhaka at the National Art Gallery from 30th November to 3rd December 2008 on the impact of cyclone SIDR in the southern coastal area of Bangladesh. A jury board will select photographs for the exhibition named ‘Biponno prokiti o Monobota’. Finally HOPE’87 Bangladesh will document the 100 most expressive pictures to raise the awareness among the people. The 1st prize of the competition will be Tk. 20,000/- (Twenty Thousand), Crest & Certificate. More than10 honorable awards are foreseen.



HOPE’87 Bangladesh called for entries on 25th September 2008 through a press conference at the National Press Club.
