In Memoriam of H.E. Ambassador Dr Walther Backes

In memoriam...

It is with grieve that we have learnt about the sad death of H.E. Ambassador (ret) Dr Walther Backes, former Member of the Board of HOPE'87.

Ambassador Backes, who would have turned 88 in a short while,  served his country Austria for more then 40 years and rendered HOPE'87 service as Member of the Board after his retirement from the diplomatic corps.

He vividly supported the General Secretariat as of 1991 in pursuing the strategy of establishing HOPE'87 country offices managed by local representatives and to strengthen the ties between the organization and the diplomatic representations of the Republic of Austria.

We shall not forget the inspiring ideas and the support of His Excellency Dr. Walther Backes and we are passing on our condolences to his family and friends.
