HOPE’87 Secretary General meets the President of the Republic of Senegal

As part of a delegation of UNESCO, Special Ambassador Dr Ute Ohoven visited Dakar from the 28th of January to the 8th of February 2018. The HOPE’87 Secretary General, Robert Ottitsch, as well as the Country Director of HOPE’87-Senegal, Boubacar Mané, assisted at an audience of the President of the Republic of Senegal, H.E. Macky Sall.

The delegation briefed the Head of State about the development and the preparatory works for the program „Cité Baraka- du bidonville à un quartier digne“.

The official launch of the reconstruction works of this shanty town in Liberté VI, a district of Dakar, was presided in April 2017 by the President, who is actively supporting this program.

All of the 210 families living in Baraka will get new appartements and a modern educational and economic infrastructure will be established. In the frame of the SDGs, this will contribute to the fight against poverty, as well as providing equal access for all to quality education, clean water and sanitation, decent work and a life in a sustainable city.

The HOPE’87 Network is happy to contribute through the services of HOPE’87-Senegal to the success of this program by providing the knowhow for the implementation of a series of awareness raising , capacity building, skills training and primary as well as early childhood projects accompanying the reconstruction works that will will start on March 15th in presence of the Minister of Construction, H.E. Diene Farba Sarr.
