Disaster Relief for Nor'wester cyclone affected people in Bangladesh

On 4th April 2015, a devastating tornado, the so-called Nor’wester, lashed through Bangladesh. The Bogra District was the worst affected location. Various buildings have been destroyed and, even worse, a large number of people have died or were badly injured due to the intensity of the tornado.

HOPE’87 Bangladesh, together with their local Partner NGO Gram Bikash Sangstha (GBS), took immediate action and collected relevant data in order to contribute to the provision of emergency relief to the vulnerable population of Bogra District.

Thus, HOPE’87 Bangladesh and GBS supported the victims by distributing food packages among families and (re-) constructing shelters for the severly tornado-affected households.

Additionally, HOPE’87 Bangladesh visited the “Bogra Hospital” and provided injured people with medical support for their necessary pathological tests and medicine purchasing purposes.

In total, in cooperation with the HOPE’87 General Secretariat, 120 tornado-affected families have been supported with food packages, house repairing activities and other indispensable relief supplies.
