Agreement on Emergency Assistance for Small Farmers

The national representation of FAO and HOPE’87 in Burkina Faso signed an agreement on ‚Emergency assistance for small farmers suffering from rising food prices in urban and semi urban areas in five cities in Burkina Faso’.

The project aims at ensuring the nutritional needs of the victims of the food crisis through the support of their productive capacities in order to allow them to resume their agricultural activities. The beneficiaries get access to seeds and agricultural materials. The duration of the project is 6 months from October 2008 until March 2009. It is implemented in Ouagadougou and addresses 750 horticulturists.

HOPE’87 takes the role of a local implementing partner. The local team of HOPE’87 Burkina Faso identifies and selects the beneficiaries, distributes the agricultural material and monitors the cultivation and training of the beneficiaries.
