International Day of Rural Women.

On October 15th we celebrated the International Day of Rural Women.

Rural women are the key for a world free from hunger and poverty and are thus remembered annually on the 15th of October in order to raise awareness of the importance of achieving gender equality and empowering women as a means to fight against extreme poverty, hunger and malnutrition.

World Teachers’ Day

Today we are celebrating World Teachers’ Day.

World Teachers’ Day is held annually on October 5th to celebrate all teachers around the world and to commemorate the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers.

HOPE’87 Burundi Country Director

It is with deep sadness that we announce that our dear friend and colleague, Mr Benoît Muhimuzi, passed away in Brussels on 18th of September 2021 after a short illness. He will be buried in Kigali (Ruanda) next week in the presence of his wife, children and family.

International Day of Peace

On September 21st we celebrated the International Day of Peace.

Each year, the International Day of Peace is observed around the world in order to strengthening the ideals of peace. This year, the theme for the International Day of Peace is “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world”.

International Literacy Day

Today, on the 8th of September, we are celebrating the International Literacy Day.

These celebrations have taken place every year since 1967 around the world, in order to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society and to remind of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights.

  •  On the 19th of August we celebrated the World Humanitarian Day.

United Nations International Youth Day

  • On the 12th of August we are celebrating the UN-International Youth Day.
  • Sport is an important means to connect to each other and gives hope also in difficult situations. Especially for the youth, the importance of community sports for identity formation cannot be underestimated.
