International Day of Epidemic Preparedness

In 2020, the first ever International Day of Epidemic Preparedness was celebrated on December 27th. It was called for by the United Nations General Assembly to advocate the importance of the prevention of as well as the preparedness for epidemics.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

On the 3rd of December, we celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Persons with disabilities are among the hardest hit by COVID-19, which is why disability inclusion is an essential condition to upholding human rights, sustainable development, peace and security and it is central to the promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to leave no one behind.

World Toilet Day

HOPE’87, with its humanitarian aid project in Myanmar, set itself the goal to provide water, sanitation and hygiene as well as to respond to the nutrition and health needs of the internally displaced people living in the camps of Paletwa.

Increased income as well as food and nutritional security for small scale producers through capacity building

The project areas in Burkina Faso and Mali are strongly favoured by nature and thanks to abundant rainfall, agriculture can be practiced there without too much difficulty. Despite this natural advantage, farmers in general and vegetable growers in particular fail to obtain the best benefits from operating their agricultural activities. This project is intended as a response to this deficiency and aims to support the female members of the two groups of market gardeners in order to increase their agricultural income.

Fighting waste in Africa

This waste management project started its activities in February 2021 and will last for a period of 11 months, until December 2021. It follows the first plastic waste recycling project executed in Heremakono (Mali) and Koloko (Burkina Faso) and is implemented by UNITED-TEAMS – the strategic alliance of the YOU STIFTUNG and HOPE'87.

Resilience and income creation in the Sahel

This project started in July 2020, in a particular context of poverty linked to the effects of COVID-19, which appeared in March 2020 in Burkina Faso and Mali. Due to the pandemic, the local economy and the entire production systems collapsed completely, with all production in the already impoverished cross-border area between Burkina Faso and Mali being thoroughly impacted.

Discovering the Senufo culinary art in relation to nutrition, health and local economy

The implementation of this cultural project of safeguarding, protecting and transmitting local know-how to the younger generations of the Senufo cultural heritage in Burkina Faso and Mali has led to an enhancement of the Senufo cultural heritage, with a special focus on the preservation of their culinary art.

Paquet Poulet

Burkina Faso and Mali are poultry breeding countries. This activity is one of the most profitable rural and pre-urban economic activities in these two countries and occupies a very large part of the population. This breeding is done extensively and does not really need large investments – a small henhouse is enough to shelter the hens in case of rains and excessive heat. The poultry breeding provides a fairly substantial income to poor rural households.

A well for Kouloukan

This project began its activities in November 2020 and terminated, after a period of 12 months, in October 2021. It has been carried out in partnership with the local association “Tout Pour l'Enfant” of Sikasso in Mali and has been generously financed by the City of Vienna.
