Disaster Relief for Nor'wester cyclone affected people in Bangladesh

On 4th April 2015, a devastating tornado, the so-called Nor’wester, lashed through Bangladesh. The Bogra District was the worst affected location. HOPE’87 Bangladesh, together with their local Partner NGO Gram Bikash Sangstha (GBS), took immediate action to contribute to the provision of emergency relief to the vulnerable population of Bogra District.

Severe storms hit Bangladesh and Bhutan

On Saturday, 4 April 2015, severe storms have caused massive destruction and damage to life and property in Bangladesh and Bhutan. The HOPE'87 Offices in both countries have immediately reacted to the disaster and have already started relief activities to provide food and shelter for affected families.

Sarajevo: Visit of the Governor of Upper Austria, Dr. Josef Pühringer

The Governor of Upper Austria, Dr Josef Pühringer, and a delegation from the province of Upper Austria paid a visit to the HOPE'87 polyclinic in Sarajevo where a project in support of people with disabilities was implemented with financial support from the province of Upper Austria.

Computer literacy classes in the Tharpaling Monastery

Tharpaling monastery was built in the 14th century by Lama (Great Master) Kuenphen Longchenpa during his self-exile from Tibet for 10 years. It is located at an altitude of 3,600 meters and is in a very remote area of the country without any modern amenities. It takes a 10-11 hours journey by car from the capital Thimphu to Chumey and another two hours from the main road or a day's walk on foot to get there.

Food security and income generation in semi-urban areas of Burkina Faso

This project focused on the reinforcement of food security and the fight against poverty. The project area included 34 villages of the rural community Komsilga in Burkina Faso. Although this semi-urban region has a good market access due to its proximity to the capital Ouagadougou, the problems of "land grabbing" and high prices apply great pressure on the majority of the poor agricultural households.

Humanitarian Congress Vienna 2015

On Friday, 6th March 2015, the 3rd Humanitarian Congress took place in the venerable halls of the University of Vienna. This year’s Humanitarian Congress Vienna was guided by the motto: « Humanitarian Aid under Fire ». Together with other international humanitarian NGOs, HOPE’87 was a co-organizer of the Congress.

Roma children in Eastern Slovakia

HOPE'87 supports an educational project for children and young people of the Roma minority in the Eastern Slovak town of Jarovnice. Since April 2014 a great number of activities have been successfully implemented.

The overall objective of the project was to encourage the inclusion of children, youth and young adults within the framework of the national strategy for the Integration of Roma communities. The target groups of this project were children at pre-school age, young people and young adults as well as volunteers that wanted to support the numerous activities of the project.The special objective of the project was to offer school preparation for children at pre-school age and to support the personal development and the talents of young people by offering workshops and leisure activities.
