UNESCO General Conference 3rd to 18th of November 2015

As in previous years, the Secretary General of HOPE'87  represented the organization at this year's UNESCO General Conference in Paris. Furthermore, Mr Ottitsch was also appointed again to serve on the official Austrian delegation to the UNESCO GC as expert and to participate in the Education Commission.

On  the 21st of October 2015, the HOPE'87 General Assembly took place at the Royal Archives  (Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv) in Vienna's Inner District.

20.000 marching in Vienna for the rights of refugees...

It was an amazing view of 20.000 people from all walks of life and all ages coming together yesterday evening around 8pm and then marching towards the Vienna city center, on the magnificent Ring-boulevard and to the Parliament!

Experiences of a volunteer teacher in Bangladesh

Devastating flooding in Pakistan

In Pakistan heavy monsoon rains, the rapid melting of snow and outbursts from glacial lakes from the 16th to 22nd of July have led to devastating flash floods and the flooding of the Indus River in various locations across Pakistan.

A Safer Tomorrow – Institutionalising disaster preparedness in education system

The project "A safer Tomorrow" focuses on the integration of the „School Based Disaster Risk Management“ (SBDRM) model into the governmental system of the Pakistani Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The project is co-financed by ECHO, ADC and HOPE'87.

School construction and material supply for Dola Para Primary School

HOPE'87 Bangladesh and its local partner NGO "Humanitarian Foundation" - with financial support from the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi in cooperation with the Austrian Honorary Consulate in Dhaka - constructed a school building consisting of two class rooms and a veranda.

School furniture (high and low benches), solar panels for light, water purifying filters and teaching and learning material (writing pads, pens, curriculum, blackboard) for the school were also provided.

The project now allows for a permanent access to primary education for the children of Dola Para.

Education for children in Chittagong Hill Tracts

HOPE'87 Bangladesh has launched four community-based primary schools, in cooperation with the local partner NGO "Khotowain" and with the financial support of the Foundation UNESCO- Education for Children in Need.

120 children of the indigenous Mrou community are attending these schools and are provided with school uniforms, badges, pens, books, paper notebooks, black boards, and necessary educational material.

Each school is equipped with musical instruments as well as sports materials for the children.
